Highly anticipated game sequel to Stronghold
Stronghold Crusader HD is a premium strategy game for PC developed by FireFly Studios. It's the sequel to the Medieval RTS, Stronghold. This version introduces improved graphics, with a more detailed and distinct art style. Featuring a new era and setting, players will engage in missions inspired by historical events.
Building upon the core experience of the original Stronghold HD game, Stronghold Crusader HD introduces new units and bots to both single-player and multiplayer modes, with their own pool of dedicated units and castles they can access. All that while retaining the engaging and challenging gameplay the series is known for.
Long-awaited follow-up
The first Stronghold game was a commercial success when it came out. It amassed a sizeable following thanks in no small part to its engaging gameplay that provides plenty of units to choose from and tactical depth for its large-scale battles. Here then, comes Stronghold Crusader HD, its highly anticipated sequel that aims to build upon the strong foundation of its predecessor.
Stronghold Crusader HD will have you experience the historical Crusades across multiple campaigns that cover the First, Second, and Third Crusades. The unit cap has been increased from 1,000 to 10,000 troops, resulting in massive all-out war as you manage and lead your men across a large open map. Despite its increased scale, the gameplay feels faster and more dynamic.
In addition to the main campaigns, there are also more than 100 skirmish missions and special mini-campaigns to experience that add to the game's replayability and long-term appeal. One thing to note for newcomers is that this sequel has a moderate learning curve compared to the original, since you have to figure out most things yourself without much help or guidance.
A worthy sequel
If you're a fan of the original, you'll be glad to know that Stronghold Crusader HD is a solid sequel that improves not only the visuals but also the gameplay, most of which is for the better. If this is your foray into the series, you'll have to learn and figure things out first. It's worth the effort, though, for what you'll experience in return.
